I have been very blessed to have gotten a great education and landed some great paying jobs in my life. However, I've pretty much disliked them all. They were just jobs that brought me no satisfaction or fulfillment. I got out of my current industry because of it. I was out 5 years and came back a year ago. I am miserable. I thought with time I'd have a renewed outlook or interest. Nope. I feel completely lost.

I am sure you're going to ask what I want to do? I have no idea. I feel at this point I would be happier working a couple part-time jobs than continue what I am doing. I have my name on the door, a title and all hoo-ha that comes with it. I really care about none of it. I feel so incredibly ungrateful. I know I need to talk to my husband about it but I am terrified. Don't get me wrong, he's great but it still terrifies me. If we didn't have horses, I could honestly get by with not working. We could survive on his income...but I won't give them up. I feel people do it with way less than I do...

Has anyone experienced this? I am open to any advice or suggestions.

What do you do?

I feel the same.  Been stuck in carrier that is meaningless and boring.  Burned out to the max.  Terrible new boss on top of it and ever increasing sales targets.  However I am self supporting, and I do get to work from home (need to keep regular hours).  At times I just want to run away from it all.  But then there are the horses....  and by no means am I prepared to give them up.  So therefor I will work hard and put up with the misery so they can have a good life.

Also, I wouldnt really know what other job to do.  I really want to be a cowboy (well, girl), but that is just a pipe dream...

I am the VP of lending for a community bank. I should have nothing to complain about but if it doesn't make me happy...it just doesn't. I also feel like I put up with because I love the horses but surely we can find more enjoyment elsewhere?

More enjoyment for sure, but not sure if I would enjoy the smaller paycheck.  I also chalk my feelings off to a bit of midlife crisis.....  :/

It's hard. I would much rather work with animals than people. Not even just horses. I have a pretty good livestock background. The problem is NONE of that shows on my resume. I look like a stuffed shirt banker. My resume shows what I DO AND HAVE DONE but not WHAT I WANT TO DO. And when they are judging you by a sheet of paper it's hard to get that across.

I was in the same boat, miserable at work. I had an outlook of just showing up and going through the motions to make a check to pay for my horse addiction. God has showed me that I needed to change my attitude towards my job. I have been working on it for over a year now. I have come to realize that I can do better. I am blessed to have a good job and I can help others. It's so hard though. I put more effort into my job and it makes me feel more satisfied with my job. I think we all get stuck in a rut. I know I was. Good luck with you decisions!

You make a great point.  I get to work from home and due to that fact I have put up with immense amounts of BS over the  years, and kept a happy face in times of utter disgust.
