Please share your stories on the horses that you have had with a fractured pelvis. How long did you keep them penned up? How long did it take to get them back in shape? Did they run as tough as they did before the injury? Any and all info would be appreciated.

Do a search. There are actually a ton of posts about fractured pelvis in horses. My mare is going on two years post fracture and she isn't back yet.... Unfortunately it caused problems in her sacroiliac joint. I pray she can run as tough as she did. She was a 1d horse winning races of over 300 entires, pro rodeo money winner and circuit finals qualifier. I've shed a lot of tears over the last two years about her. I'm still not Giving up hope because she is only 12. Do the lengthy stall rest
(my horse was 6 months
), rehab slowly and make sure they in great condition before you run again. Good luck with your horses recovery.

I have a mare off the track that has a broken pelvis. Her racing record was nit stellar and I am sure that is why. She is one of my broodmares so it really doesn't make much difference. I can tell that it bothers her.

I had a gelding do it in pasture and we never knew. It was winter and as long as they were standing around looking fat and happy when I checked water and broke the ice off every morning I went on my way to work. Found out later the next summer after having my baby and legging him back up that something was wrong. So he never had a good opportunity to heal correctly. He got sore anytime he had to turn sharp and actually just easy riding made his SI and back muscles sore so he has been a pasture pet since age 5. I really have to say I have heard of very few that come back competitive at all much less 100%. It's hard on a broodmare and after talking to others I wouldn't even keep one around and breed her. Just so hard and painful for them.
