So I have had two awful runs on my gelding in the last month. The only common denominator between the two runs was I used polos all the way around.
Has anyone had a horse hate a certain kind of leg wrap so much they pitched a fit?

Wow, polos are soft and pliable, total opposite of the rubbery boots. It was all I would use. Maybe you're leaving them on too long and he's overheating and getting itchy.

I wrapped him both times right before we ran so they werenβt on very long at all. No different than when I run him in sport boots. Iβm swapping back to boots to see what happens. He has me scratching my head

If they are not wrapped correctly they can caused serious issues. Although not as serious as standing wraps, they still need to be wrapped correctly.

Some horses are weird.
Iβd say if youβre confident that youβre wrapping them correctly and that seems to be the common denominator for your poor runs...there ya go, you have a weird horse. Embrace him and use boots.

I have a mare that sits really hard. She will not run correctly if she has polos or nothing on her back legs. She burned herself really bad when she was young. Put boots on her and she sits and drags like she is supposed to.
Maybe he doesn't feel secure without the boots?

I have one right now that HATES anything on his back legs .... even the ShooFly leggins.
So he gets nothing on his back legs.

They can definitely feel them. We've all seen horses goose-stepping when they first try to get used to them.
