Tolkat is by far my fav of the fleece cinches. I have a few different kinds of the ones they offer. Just stick with a quality brand.

I've only used shearling so I can't comment on the merino.

I have the professionals choice shearling. After every ride, it wipe (fluff) it with a towel, to wipe off any excess sweat that I can. Then maybe 2 or 3 times a year (or when it needs it) I wash it. I use a gentle laundry detergent and the garden hose, and let it dry in the wind/sun.

Shotgun's cinch is on year two. I'm noticing that we will lose a little fluff here and there in the last month or so, but I think it is holding up very well.

The merino doesn't wear as well as the shearling.  Its not as soft either.  I use the shearling.  Professional choice and shoulder relief.
