Leg cues

My horse is very responsive to leg cues. My left leg is not as strong as my right and in a competition run I get sloppy and do not cue with my legs going to the right.
In a competition run how do you maintain your leg cues throughout the run.
Do I need to strengthen my core and my legs or MY MIND!!!
Thank you for your response.

Make sure you are doing your leg cues in your slow work. Repetition. Practice perfect. It needs to become habit.

Perfect practice makes perfect performance. Repetition will create muscle memory, so make sure you're doing it the exact same way every single time during your slow work, and you'll do it during your competition runs without even thinking about it. Improving your own physical and mental strength will help also.

Your stirrups may be a bit to long. I ride every horse with my feet and legs. I had to take my stirrup up a little.

Ditto to everything said.
I also took my stirrups up a hole recently and it made a huge difference in my ability to use my legs more effectively and really ride. Somewhere along the way this whole super long stirrup habit became in vogue...

It's all muscle memory. I am not consciously thinking about moving specific parts of my body during the run. I am in slow work.. I just can't slow down time to think like that during the run. When I watch my videos I'm obviously cueing with my legs and hands but its all just from muscle memory. IDK how to consciously control that at a run.

All I can say is ditto to everything above... I took a 14 yr break from running and it took me awhile to get back to even being close to having my timing and balance and allllll that comes with it... video's help a great deal so you can see what you are doing as well! Keep on Keepin on!
