Location: Arkansas | Chandler rode his semi-retired mare today---first time my child has been on a horse in about 3 or so years. And can't remember the last time he rode Two! Lula Bell rode Sean's horse, and one of C's friends (hasn't been on a horse in at least 10 years) rode my big gelding. I'm so proud of my ponies because Two hasn't been ridden in 3 years, and it's been about year and half for Lynn and Faci. . . They were wonderful for the kids!!!! Rode right off and didn't really give them any problems except maybe Faci took a few longing steps toward the barn!!! Did have to longe Lynn cause he can be cold-backed, but Lula is a true hand so I wasn't worried.
C is in a Confederate program in about 3 weeks, horseback with flag and cannons, so he's trying to see if Two will hold up to it. Obviously our horses are SOFT, so I told him slow and let's see how she does. It's not a demanding ride, but I baby my horses, so I want to be absolutely certain! Our backup plan? Well. . . . I may have purchased a cute little buckskin gelding last year and didn't tell my family since they think I have a terrible addiction. Called HORSES
This may not seem like a big deal, but Chan is going thru a very tough and trying time right now, so he needs this. I'm beyond proud of my son, in all ways.

He is very involved in the state organization, but I didn't really think he would participate in a reenactment or program. However, he found a portrait of one of the Confederate generals horseback, and when he showed it to one of the head guys at a meeting, the commander loved it. He told C he had a program coming up and wanted to include the scene in it--and wanted Chan to portray him!!!! So he's gotten very excited about it the closer it gets!! And I'm all for him being excited about anything right now. Horses absolutely are lifesavers. . .
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, Miss M

| Thatβs fantastic news! Horses are wonderful creatures, and like Winston Churchill said: βthere is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.β C will do great things, and I bet it is making your heart so happy to see his spirits lifted again!
And where are the pictures of your new addition?!
Keeping you all in my prayers up here D |

Location: Arkansas | Well, the buckskin it is! I'm not sure it's the best choice between him and Two, but Chan decided which horse. And since he's the one riding, I'm leaving it up to him. I spent part of the afternoon cleaning and conditioning an OLD McClellan saddle. Lord was it dirty. (Of all things, Lula Bell's daddy had it hanging in the barn for over 15 years--and she just happened to remember seeing it. Have no idea at all where we would have found one on such short notice, and the Lord provided one from family!!) I pity his booty tho riding that hard thing!!
