ESMS? Brazos Valley Equine?

Weatherford Equine Breeding Center has done well for me. My very favorite is Granada Farms, but I live too far from them now.

I have dealt with individuals and can tell you the ones I have dealt with that have the same goal in mind that I have—to get your mare bred. These are Sally Milum—Guys Easy Jet. She is the bomb. Freddie Sumrow—standing several stallions—Rafter S. I have had major problems with one vet and stallion owner where several people tried to tell the stallion owner the vet was taking advantage of him and he was too stupid to know we were trying to help him. Extremely difficult to work with. He owes me about $1500 but I decided to cut my losses and move on. I have never asked for that money back because it is not worth dealing with them. Don’t know if the stallion is sterile or they were screwing everyone for shipping fees. What I am saying is that it doesn’t matter if you deal with an individual or a breeding facility, it should be a pleasant experience not a major hassle.

The Ranch Equine and Weatherford Equine have both been great for us personally. Robicheaux Ranch was very difficult, professionally speaking, but I haven’t dealt with them as a mare owner, just the veterinary side.

I've only had two issues in 20 years of AI'ing.

I don't count this years missed flight to be the breeding farms fault - they were certainly fast to notify me of the incident, and the owner was happy to extend the 1 year contract since the day late semen didn't take (mare already ovulated).

I have found most individuals and breeding farms very helpful as long as you have your information ready at hand, have paid already, or have cc ready to go.

I will most likely avoid any farms that don't offer same day shipping.  My past three or four seasons I've needed same day shipping.  Some things Mother Nature just doesn't help out with much and ovulation seems to be one of those.

We have pretty limited experience with just three but have been very pleased with all three experiences. Our first was with High Point and Slick By Design. Christi was great to work with and prompt with replies, it took two shipments one cooled and one frozen but it stuck and we now have the yearling we hoped for! Next was Frenchman's Bully super sweet owners and was onsite collection as he is local, my sister has a nice little filly by him. And this year we went with Sonya Walz and her young stud First Moon Medley. She has been fantastic and also super sweet to talk to and ask questions, we are excited to see our 2019 baby by Checkbook!

It has been a few years but LSOF went above and beyond to get semen shipped when my mare decided she was going to change the schedule on us! Also JB Quarterhorses was super to deal with on a mare that refused to ovulate as predicted. And LT Tres Ta Fame has been amazing about extending a contract when I lost my mare in foal to him and didn’t have anything to breed back to him.

Oh. I thought it was just me. I was unhappy with them too. I will say this was a lot of years ago. But I'm an old bag and I don't forgive. ;-)

Joleen Hales has been great! No drama - just sends the semen when you ask for it.

I've been lucky to have mainly positive experiences through the years. I've had FAR more trouble when I sent my mare to a stud than if I shipped semen to me. I lost one mare at a stud farm because their vet didn't admit he had punctured her during an exam. I paid over 2 months of mare care at another place in texas because they turned my mare out in an 80 acre field and couldn't catch her. ( I TOLD them to not turn her out in anything bigger than a run - was VERY specific about how hard to catch she was)

Highpoint was utterly professional and great to deal with (but the extra charge for using a credit card kinda stuck in my craw a bit - I think $20 to run a card is excessive plus extra cost on the shipment)

Brazos Valley, Southern Indiana Equine, and Select Breeders were all great to work with.

As far as places that I took mares to - Jayma Jo Shoemaker at Shoemaker Farms was a pleasure and took great care of my mare, but Darrel Henry takes the prize for above and beyond. I called him when another outfit missed a flight to ship (this was already a reship because the first shipment was dead) and a holiday was coming up. My vet thought this mare wouldn't hold, so I called Darrel and asked if he would accept another mare. He told me to come straight ahead. I arrived at 11:45 at night and they collected and bred that night!
Then he insisted that I stay until the mare ovulated to be sure. I left 3 days later because this mare refused to read the book about the timeline for ovulating.

Very positive experiences with Cross Country Ranch in La Pine, Oregon. Scottie always sends out great semen. Also very positive experience with Vicki Adams Fire Water Creek Ranch. Those were in the last 4 years. I bred to a young stud from SD this year. Excellent semen and response to inquires/ordering semen. U Bar Bar ranch.

Run from anything James Ranch has anything to do with!!!!

We paid the booking on a stallion there.....well I've been getting a bill for the rest of the stud fee for about 8 months now....we decided that wasn't the place for us...

Robicheaux Ranch...ugh....sent three emails to get a contract and never got a response....
