What can you do as a rider if you have a horse that is extremely front endy around the barrels. This particular horse is well taught but his natural style seems to override his training when it comes time to make a run. He is also push style. How do you ride it, what do you do, does certain equipment help?

Make for darn sure his shoulders are free. My gelding use to have a big drop at the barrels. Even though he wasn’t sore and had good sweat patterns - we still found one that was an even better fit and freed him up.

The owner of Elliot Bits suggested a bit and it helped a bunch on my front endy horse. My horse is short in height, extremely wide, and very long backed. One of the BHW gurus(very talented person)?mentioned on here, I forgot who she is, I wish I could give her the credit for a suggestion she mentioned about driving them from behind up
under themselves and up into the bit. That was a hugely successful suggestion.

He suggested a sliding gag, a square snaffle mouthpiece with slight curved bars.

Thanks! One thing I did try this weekend was a different saddle. It seemed to free up the shoulders some and he wasn't AS front endy. Not a total fix but it certainly was an improvement!
