Location: Texas | Can anyone that went to this race last year give me feedback on it? LVBarrelrace.com I am considering entering the Dec. 10-12th race. I know it is just a crap shoot, but I think it might be fun to give it a try. I have a friend going that would haul my horse, feed & tack for me. So my husband and I would fly out. Just can't decide if I want to commit or not. Any feedback, good or bad, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

| I went the last race last year and entered the Dec 14/16 this year. It was a fun experience, a crap shoot like any other race on winning $. The biggest key is to get a tack stall! No one wants to walk all over hells half acre to their trailer for everything. We had 6 people in ours, we did keep hay in our trailers, not enough room for 6 horses hay too. And make sure to bed DEEP.... the stalls are on pavement, I used mats, the pelleted bedding and saw dust and had zero problem. The water is also gross, really chlorinated! All in all it was fun, I am entered this year but probably wont do it again, I want to party in Vegas next year .... |

Location: Louisiana | I have been the last two years and entered for 2 races this year. It is absolutely the best barrel race I have ever been to. Well worth the money. |

Location: So. Cali. | I ran last year and really enjoyed it! ALOT of walking. You are allowed to walk your horses to your trailer to tack up, but due to close parking last year I was unable to, so I had to haul my tack back and forth each time (or toss it in back of truck like many did). Bring matts to put in stalls as they are on concrete. I bought shavings there and for the life of me I can't remember if we were 'allowed' to bring in outside shavings... I felt 'special' if that makes sense, they defiantly make it all feel like a big deal. I would've had a hard time bringing an unseasoned horse, just a lot going on. I ran the second weekend and have no complaints about the ground (I know the first weekend there were quite a few complaints/slips/etc.). I did make the short go and held the 3D for a little while but walked away with no money. You also recieve a complimentary video of your run if you make the short go. If I had the extra funds again this year I'd go back. Best of Luck if you do decide to go! |
