I lost my fav bit today *a cautionary tale*

I lost my favorite bit today and I legit cried like it was alive. I didn't realize it had been missing since I had been riding some colts that didn't require it. I went to get it to put it on a horse today and realized it was missing along with a pair of prized split reins. I never took a picture of it. I knew I'd never sell it or part with it because it was just quite perfect.
After realizing it was missing I of course searched all tack rooms, trailers, and called friends after 3 hours of looking I decided to mourn the loss of my bit by grabbing a beer. As we waited at the bar after ordering I started to search through photos for a picture to get a replacement made and that is when I realized the awful fact that I never took a picture!!
It is a very old loomis, the kind with the thin wire at the top. It was so balanced and had the best shanks that slid on old not too soft not too stiff cotton ropes. I bought it about ten years ago and it was old then. The twisted wire mouth piece went together perfectly in the middle with a slight curve and bent. It had a wore out almost rubbed off stamp I never looked up. I don't know the maker and it was old when I got it.
So I caution you all that if you've got an older bit that is a fav tuning tool TAKE A PICTURE OF IT!!!!

...sorry for your loss.
Hope you stumble across it in some forgotten corner, or find another one like it.

Just a reminder also to lock our trailers. One of my favs went missing too. It's just too easy for a thief to help themselves to a bridle.

I lost an $85 Ed Wright just by loaning it out. The borrowers lost it and had no interest in replacing it. It was even on a very nice headstall. Never again.

Yes they are but new ones do not have the very THIN wire like mine did nor the balance. I have like 4 newer ones with cable and I bought some what I would call crappy ones with think "bar" like metal that colts just rode like poo in and then I've got a rope one or two as well.
This one was a perfectly crafted master piece

I think I have one of these in my tack room, I will try to remember to look tonight. I haven't used it in over 20 years, so I know it's an old bit.
