Im on the fence about this. I have never ridden behind anyone elses training, for 30 years always trained my own with pretty good success. I am 50 years old now and I sold my good 1D mare last year for lots of reasons. I have my 3 year old who is really doing great and the good mares 2 year old fixing to get to broke. I am debating on whether or not to send the 3 year old to a Girl that lives about an hour from me. She trains for JB quarter horses. I met her a few years back and have watched her train quite a few with success for JB and some others so I feel good about her if I go that direction.
I have never done this and I am aware its expensive which is why im selling my current horse. I dont have the "want to" to haul everywhere to get one seasoned and ready like I used to. Im older now and I still love the competition but all the other stuff in between is not what I want anymore(exhibition Hell) . I am concerned about someone allowing a bad habit or training a style that doesnt fit me, etc when I get him back. If he does well I will let her take him and go to some futurities. I did talk to her so I know what to expect as far as fees etc.

Have any of you done this? how did it turn out? Good idea or just tough it out? Thoughts appreciated. This is a totally new thing for me.

If your styles mesh---you should be fine.

If you like this ladys riding style and you think you should beable to ride behind her in the future I say go for it, just never know untill you try it. If you trust her and shes easy to talk to and you have not seen any thing that you dont like that shes train then do it.
