| Now that my horse is finished growing, I’m going to invest in her long term saddle. I like all 3 of the above saddle makers for different reasons. Just wanted to hear other people’s thoughts.
I like all 3 for different reasons (in no particular order):
Horse fit
Quality
Rider comfort
*I’m going to make CERTAIN that whatever I get fits the horse - I’m close enough to one of the makers to bring my horse in for a fitting, I’ve contacted another to see if they can make the exact tree I need, and the other fits her right off the rack. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I have a Caldwell Promax and 3 Double J Pozzi's one is a #10 tree and the other one is the wide and a standard, never had a Shiloh. I like the deep seat, taller swells and cantle on the Pozzi's, the Caldwell has a nice deep seat, fits my one gelding like a glove, the Pozzi #10 tree is for him also because he needed rock to the tree and the Caldwell has rock to the tree also and seems to fit him better, the Caldwell is super nice to ride has good swells and cantle that are set just right, The Calwell is a better quality leather then the Double J's but the Double J's are a good quality also, I just like how the Caldwell has nice soft leather {butter soft}. |

Location: Georgia | lol I knew this was you when I saw the post. Honestly Caldwells quality is 100x better than the other two IMO. Might want to look into Performance Saddle Company or Kowalsky Saddle Company. They are very similar quality to Caldwell but a touch less. Both companies close-ish |

Location: God's country | I own a Caldwell and a Shiloh, never owned a Double J. Honestly I like the Shiloh as well as or better than the Caldwell. Now obviously the Caldwell is higher quality leather, but it is a good bit heavier than the Shiloh. The lighter weight is a plus to me when you’re riding several. I feel I ride as well in the Shiloh as the Caldwell, and the price difference is significant. I love my Caldwell but will be buying another used Shiloh next. |

Location: South Georgia | I had been searching high and low for a reasonably priced used Caldwell in the specific tree I needed, but I ran across a blinged out Double J Pozzi that was a steal and I snatched it up right quick. The thickness and quality and feel of leather on my Double J "looks" higher quality than other Pozzi's I see posted and in person. I am very pleased with my saddle, but I wonder about consistency based on this. |

| I know you said Caldwell, Double J or Shiloh.. but have you ever looked into a Roohide? I've owned and ridden in both Shiloh's and Double J's and they aren't comparable to my Roohide at all. Roohide is great quality, very comfortable to sit in, freedom to move your legs but still stable, sits you down closer to your horse, and if you get the correct tree they fit really well. Hands down great customer service. They will mold your horses back and make the tree to match it and fix it as many times as needed until they and you are happy with the fit. They take a little getting use to to ride in because of the way they feel, but now I don't like riding in anything else! My Shiloh and Double J haven't left the tackroom in months. |

I have nothing against Roo Hides and would love to try one, but I’ve been through SO MANY saddles and know of ONE tree that fits her perfectly. I’m scared to drop so much money on something that *may* not work out. I’ve had over a year of saddle searching now and have been through many used saddles. I think I may just go with the one that fits her without having to customize a tree.... |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | I have had dozens of different saddles (including Caldwell) and now own 3 of the same Shiloh model, each with a different fit for the horse. My butt feels right at home, super secure and balanced. Are they top of the line leather? Nope. But they aren’t mass produced either and the quality is excellent for the price. Double Jj is flashier and prettier but I’d rather have substance.

| The quality of a Caldwell is far above the other 2. Shiloh's ride pretty good and fit a lot of horses. I would not own a Double J. They are junk and I have watched their rep put all of their trees on at least 2 horses and not one tree fit either horse. There is a reason you see so many for sale. |

I understand what you mean completely, I searched for almost a year and a half before I found something that fit my mare, and it turned out to be a Roo. I was fortunate enough to have her fitted by them with a bare tree and they had one that fit like a glove, and even had a used one in stock that I picked up. |
