Warrior Mom Posts: 4400	I just watched a video on Facebook from a trainer and how they get their tails so white. I have a pally and a white horse so I wanted to know! They used vinegar... they outfitted a large glove to fit the tail bundled up and poured about a half gallon in it.. let the hair soak in it for about 15 minutes and then he used a purple shampoo... after all that he used Santa Cruz conditioner on the tail. Looked pretty good.

The Bling Princess Posts: 3411 Location: North Dakota	Vetrolin White N Brite is what I used on my palomino's tail and mane to keep it sparkling and white:) use a good conditioner after because sometimes the purple shampoos can be a bit drying. This coming spring I'm going to try the Clairol Shimmering Lights on my horse. I use it on my hair and my blonde stays really blonde even with hard water, so I'm kind of curious to see if it'll whiten my horse's tail.

His tail went from touching the ground to dragging about 8 inches. Which was gorgeous but pointless so I cut it. Warning, the vet wrap did stain his tail where it got wet.

I feel like in the summer with the flies it's not really an option Check out Tail Boots, they wrap around the tail, and have long strings at the bottom to act as a swatter for flies. I'll be buying some for when the flies come back around. My mare gets irritated by the flat end of most tail bags, she even hates her tail being braided period, so I'm hoping this will be a solution for her. Her tail is a very dark brown (basically black) and gets urine stains super easily.
