Location: USA | So this super catty cutting bred mare is sooo incredibly quick, she will turn out from underneath you. I have a Pozzi, which I used to love, but I don’t like how it sits anymore - it tilts me forward especially on her. What are some saddles that are good for those quick catty horses?? |

I don’t think they make a “ catty horse “ seat. Lol i have one like that to. Maybe find a saddle that fits THEN have it made with a pencil roll seat or something that makes you sit right. |

I have to learn how to ride this little horse - she’s so quick! I like her and know I can get with her, I just have to sit really deep and use some thigh muscles to squeeze and hold the hell on! Lol

| I defiantly went through a few on my cutting bred gelding because I was getting tossed forward.
One of my biggest lessons was that anything on him that impeded shoulder movement would cause him to “drop” harder at a barrel. It didn’t even need to be making him sore really. The drop made me go forward if I wasn’t really focusing on staying back, when I had to focus on staying back I wasn’t really riding him up into the pocket like I needed to, and we hit a lot of barrels.
My Burns #20 tree fits him beautifully. My second ride in it was my first competitive run in it and the first barrels I turned in it - there was no hard drop at the barrels and everything felt so smooth.
Now I’m working hard on my core strength and fitness level so I can ride him even better-really excited for this next year. |

| Have a quick little mare that gets low and can throw you forward and I use a Bob Marshall on her. |

Location: Oklahoma & Texas | I second the Bob Marshall.... I never rode a treeless before and tried one in 2018 and now can’t imagine running barrels in anything else.. if you try one ride it for atleast a week - the first few times i tried it I wasn’t sold but once I got used to it I really loved it. Especially for a hard turning or stopping horse it keeps you centered and from getting thrown forward. There are different riggings on them so you may want to try different types as well depending on how you prefer to sit or lean forward. |

I agree to find a saddle that fits, then order a pencil roll. I prefer a roughout seat as well as the pencil roll, just adds that extra grip.
I have one that is completely cutting bred that I was pretty much on her neck and then practically on her butt in an older Pro Rider that doesn't have a super deep seat, but won a Corriente, did the roughout pencil roll, and it works great on keeping me upright and centered lol |

| Echoing what everyone else said - make sure the saddle you get for her fits. I bought a cutting reject and had my Martin on him which didn't quite fit. Made us run terribly the first few months I had him, I thought I was an awful rider and just needed to up my game. Switched to something that fit better and it was a world of difference.
I really like my Jeff Smith or Shiloh Jerri Mann on my guy, an Ammerman fit decent too but I much preferred the 5" cantle versus the 4". |
