Location: Middle TN	My 11 yr gelding and a 23 yr old mare have lived on our property, then 3 boarding facilities (in a stall at night only all 3 times) then our new 8 acre property turned out 24/7 and have never cribbed or chewed wood. They are fed 2x's a day with plenty of grass or hay. This past summer a track hoe (dinosaur size) and bulldozer running on the west of us 5 days a week for months and another bulldozer on the east side now and then. I had been riding him almost daily till a car accident in May – no damaged posts at that time. Got a call Monday (yes Christmas eve) form our ****ed neighbor to the east demanding we pay for new posts that my horses cribbed on. Yes – I do believe he chewed a few – but do think it’s from stress not cribbing. I’m thinking cut off the top of the post and cover or just cover with post cap. This is a perimeter fence they installed – 1 post is clearly on our property literally on our side of the surveyors pin. The other 3 sides are fenced with the white rope electric fence. What do you all think? PS: their wood barn is not damaged at all. Yes – there is a hoof mark here and a booty rub there but no cribbed or chewed wood. A Barrel Of Monkeys Posts: 12972 Location: Texas	Horses are notorious for chewing wood. So if/when replacing their posts, just run a string of hotwire across the top. They'll stay away from it then.

I have always wondered if someone took the time to break a horse with a shock collar. Put the shock collar on the horse and when they went to crib push the button and zap the horse. Anyone know about that? Also painting Dawn Dish soap will stop wood chewing!

Good grief, is this neighbor just looking to pick at you over the horses? Is this fence running along the edge of his yard and he thinks its messing up the neatnest of how the yard looks? Does he have horses too?
