I haven't done Whole 30, but I eat a pretty similarly. Mostly fruits, veggies, unprocessed meat and tons fruits and veggies, no added sugars. I do have certain grains, quinoa, brown rice on occassion, and oatmeal (the real stuff, not from a package. LOL!) I will also have SOME dairy but not too much as it upsets my stomach.

My biggest tip would be to meal prep, meal prep, meal prep. If I don't have something good on hand, I WILL have something bad. I usually do a few salads in mason jars for my weekly lunches, will make a few egg and veggie omelets ahead of time for breaksfasts a few days in advance, and I prep about 15 freezer meals per month, so I almost always have something on the fly to warm up for dinner or literally throw in the crock pot, no prep needed.

I've done it and it works. It's really hard at first because you don't realize how many things contain added sugar. When you read the label don't look at the grams of sugar in something, look at the ingredient list and see if there are any added sugars(substitute and honey are a no go also), soy, etc. If it's not in the ingredients but it shows grams of sugar than it's natural and ok to eat.

After the first couple weeks you learn what is ok and what isn't and it makes shopping much easier. Be careful of canned tomatoes and vegetables because a lot of them have added sugar. No soy is a really hard one because they add soy to almost everything.

I can give you a grocery list and some good recipes if you'd like. I've done the diet for 30, 60, and then another 17 days(all at different times). Pre-cooking your weekly lunches is a really good idea because unless you want to eat salad all the time you won't be able to just run and grab lunch.

This diet made me feel great however. I wasn't hungry because you can eat as much and as often as you would like as long as it's Whole30. I wasn't tired all the time on it, I lost more inches than actually weight but I was only 125lbs when I did it the first time so I didn't really have weight to lose. I maintained 119 after the first 2 weeks.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

My boss is currently doing this to try and help her RA. She said the first couple of weeks were rough but then on day 17 or 18 she felt like she woke up a whole new person.

I’d like to do it because I’m naturally curious about things, I’m in the midst of a fitness journey but I feel like I haven’t quite dialed in the diet portion. I had a conversation about food and health Sunday night over a reeeaaaaly yummy salted caramel brownie and some ice cream. Then I worked out Monday morning and noticed my knees were absolutely killing me...I don’t usually eat a ton of sugar like that so it got me wondering.

I’m not terribly concerned as my diet now is pretty close - or at least I know I can basically live on lean meats, vegetables and black coffee. They’ll be a few things like dairy and legumes that I’ll have to work at...and beer.

My father in law has terrible RA and I’d love to see him do it and see how he gets along.

My hubby and I did it and my resting heart rate when down 20+ points! I slept better and felt great. I lost 11# (not the point of course for this diet) and hubby lost like 25 or something ridiculous lol.

I have my album of what I fixed for meals on FB! It’s a great eye opener on how sugar has been added to everything. Good luck and it really is a great program!
