I get the niacin at Walmart--probably not the best choice--maybe Spring Valley or Spring something. it will make you think you are melting from the inside at first. Just a warning.

YAY Anyway I told him about having high cholesterol and he suggested I go Vegan. He is and grows his own vegetables and etc. He is a certified nutrionist also. He says I could improve my cholesterol numbers drastically by going this way. Is any one a Vegan?

EAT-bacon, eggs, steak, fish, vegetables, cheese, milk... DONT EAT- bread, tortillas, chips, pasta...

Veteran Posts: 141	Im not a doctor or pretend to know a ton about this, but I do know Americans are fat and out of shape for some reason and I believe that reason is the BS food "pyramid" we were all forced to follow and believe in as kids. That thing is basically upside down. I havent watched all of this particular video but I do believe its ore accurate than a lot of things being spewed by certain doctors. Anyways, watch the video and more like it with an open mind and maybe you will have some better questions to ask your DR and maybe you can find another one that doesnt just want to pump you full of different medications. https://youtu.be/_KTEcZ1Syq8

Expert Posts: 1207	Oh I agree that we are a fat nation and all that. My pulmonary doctor does not believe in all the high cholesterol medications. What he said was that I could change my numbers by going to a vegan diet or at least a clean diet and I agree with him on that case. It was my other doctor (PCP) that prescribed me the Atorvastatin drug which I am reluctant to take because of the side effects.
