When a Brand Name Barrel Horse trainer tries to talk you into buying a colt by or breding to his current favorite Stud...a son of Frenchmans Boogie.  Probably a very nice horse, however,

Then the trainer (brand name, at least in his own mind) goes on to tell you how amazing the blood line is doing in the arena and uses Taci Bettis horse as an example. 

For non blood line people, they are NOT RELATED, not even close as far as I can tell because I questioned myself.   Just happen to have the same word in their sire names. Well, they are both horses.

People...you don't have to know your bloodlines like I do (I don't know them all but love reading them and look them up), but trainers should, especially if they are trying to sell you something. . .

Yea he should check his fact sheet.  He is confusing Frenchmans Boogie (palomino Frenchmans guy stallion) with Frenchmans Bogie (Buckskin grandson of Bogie Biankus) 

Taci's horse is by Bogie Biankus. So Frenchmans Bogie's (buckskin) grandsire sired Smash. 

The omission of an “0” or an “E” makes a difference ;-)

I know who you are talking about and you must've misheard him. He is an advocate for Frenchmans Bogie, as he should be. Alot of exceptional Bogies have came out of that barn. 

When he talks about Taci's horse, he talks about how he like Frenchmans Bogie for the Bogie Biankus more so than the Frenchmans Guy, thus how Smash comes up in coverstaion. Taci also ran a Frenchmans Bogie that she has since sold named Bogies French Bug.

Frenchmans Bogie is a very nice horse.  The Broussard girl ran the fastest time at the Josey Reunion last year on a son of Frenchmans Bogie (450 entries).  I have two granddaughters of Frenchmans Bogie both are fantastic.  One is an AQHA World Champion.  He produces extremely nice horses.  His name is pronounced booooogie as in a golfing bogie.  The other horse's name is pronounced buuuugie.  Perhaps you misunderstood.  

If a trainer is trying to "talk you into buying", run the other way.  Sounds like a horse trader without regard for horse, buyer or reputation.

I promise you, I didnt "mishear him".  I pushed the conversation just to see how far he would go.  He had no idea.  It is also not the first time this individual has made similar mistakes.  I dont purchase just on blood lines, but I would look for breding.  This "trainer" didnt know the difference and on more than one occassion made the connection.  I didnt correct the first time...figured I was the one wrong.  So next time, after double checking what I knew...I just tucked it away.  No need for confronting but really makes you shake your head.

Im sure FB is an amazing horse.  But I didnt misuderstand.  First, I like Most Frenchman...this was his mistake...talking about her horse at the NFR.  

And the stallion he was referring to was not FB, but a son of.  Just to be clear.

I will add, the conversation started with the discussion of My horse, which is a Smash...how crossing it to FB. . . then discussed a horse for sale.

I let it go.  It came up again because crossing my Smash to FB son would get me similar to her NFR horse.....I specifically asked further questions on the second conversation because I follow lines.  I wasnt even looking to bred, but by then I was curious if he knew what he was saying??? 

He thinks both her horses are by FB.

Ya sometimes people are talking apples and oranges and don't realize they are not talking about the same horse.
