Has anyone tried the CoolStance copra for horses?  Just curious.

Isin't that the main ingredient in Renew Gold?

I have used the Coolstance Copra and really liked it, it was just difficult to get. I had to buy a pallet and freight was $$$. I do now feed Renew Gold and it is one of the things in that ( plus rice bran and flax)

We do use Cool Stance copra in Renew Gold. Copra is the meat part of the coconut with much of the coconut oil removed. We use only Cool Stance copra because quality around the world varies greatly as does processing methods. Copra that results from solvent fat extraction is very low (1.5%) in coconut oil. Expeller extraction like that used for Cool Stance results in 8.5% coconut oil. Since all coconut products come from third world countries, contamination is an issue from most locations. Cool Stance avoids all of these issues and provides a food grade ingredient. After a lot of searching, we concluded that this is the only source we can trust for use in Renew Gold. 

Yes I knew that Renew Gold had that in their feed and I do feed the Renew Gold but I have one overweight horse and I was told that there is a lot of fat in the Renew Gold and I was just searching for an alternative feed.  I had to put down one of my horses 3 weeks ago because of colic.  All 3 of my horses are pasture horses and the one that got the colic was 19.  My one gelding that needs to lose weight is 24 and I have a 30 year old that seems to be doing good on the Renew Gold.  The 30 year old get 1 lb morning and night and the other one only gets 1 cup of Renew Gold morning and night plus their alfalfa cubes.  Not sure but the mare that got colic maybe was having a laminitis episode and I just didn't catch it in time.  I have since locked the other two horses out of the pasture as it was suggested to me that there was probably too much sugar out there in the grass. I am just searching for alternative to see.  Would like to know from Win though if there is too many calories in the Renew Gold for my one horse. 

Renew Gold has about 300 more calories per pound than Cool Stance. We discussed the option of Cool Stance for your horse, and this can be a good alternative for that particular horse.
