| Looking at possibly purchasing our first used LQ trailer. Going to go look at it this week. How do I know if it's a good price? I know it's how much I'm willing to spend, but in general, how do I know if the one I'm going to go look at is a good deal or not?

Location: In The Land of Cotton | You use search here on BHW and look at trailers in your price range, with the specifics that you want. You search dealers you are willing to travel to. Between those two items, you should get a good idea on what you are looking for. It can take a while. But looking and searching is worth it.

| It's a private sale. No dealers around me. I found the one I'm hoping to look at this week on Craigslist. I can't seem to find the same one for sale anywhere online to compare prices. New to buying a LQ. | |

Maybe tell what you're looking at and see if anyone on here knows the particulars of that trailer?

| I'm going to look at a 2004 Bison 3H slant load trailer. Bed, stovetop, sink, toilet, microwave, stereo, outdoor awning, rear tack, cowboy shower, table, manger, ac/heat..needs nothing, only flaw is small dent in one rear quarter panel. They are asking $13k | |

| I've heard not such great things about Bison trailers but then again, I've heard not such great things about pretty much every make out there. I think you can just go look at it. | |

Location: B-F-E | I had a 2006 Bison 3H living quarter similar to what you are looking at except mine had the large refridge/freezer, and full bathroom. We kept it in good shape but it had some superficial blemishes ofcourse. Sold it for only $12,000 pretty quick, probably should have priced it at 14,500 and it still would have been the cheapest, nicest living quarter trailer for sale on BHW. Depending on what shape that trailer is in, I would think you could maybe knock another grand or 2 off the asking price.

| We went last night and put a deposit down on the trailer. We pick it up Monday. I’m super excited! I was wrong, I thought it had a cowboy shower because there was a large water tank in the corner of the horse area in one of the pictures he sent me, but it has a full size shower, toilet, queen bed, microwave, fridge, two burner stove, couch, a/c and heat, awning. It’s exactly what I wanted. It’s not a huge living quarters, but we don’t have kids and it checked everything off our list. It’s super dirty, still has manure from the summer when they hauled in it, but it just needs a good cleaning. Someone will always have something negative to say about every brand of trailer out there. I’m happy and I can always upgrade in the future, and I will be one of the only ones at the races without a trailer payment! | |

Congrats! When we bought our first LQ I remember being super excited about it.. I haven't even used the LQ as if yet lol! But I loved putting my little touches in it.. throw pillows for the couch and towels for kitchen and bathroom and of course the bedspread and loads of pillows.. my daughter has used the lq more than I even think about. When she has a friend over they usually sleep in it at night to get away from her "annoying" little brothers in the house

Just from experience, double check the floor in the horse area. If they haven't cleaned it out in a while (or ever) then you don't want all that crap sitting in there to compromise the integrity of your floor.

When we got our current LQ I was beyond excited--we were looking at a truck for sale and when we got there ended up looking at the trailer too. And bought both. It's an older SD, but I felt like a queen when we starting hauling with it. We've had it for 9 years, and I hope you enjoy yours as much as we do ours!

Location: North MS | Just a bit of advice- ask when the roof was re-sealed. If it has never been done then I would do it ASAP! Don’t wait for a leak. It is nearing the end of the sealants life span to prevent a leak. Cost of eternabond- less than $200 for a lot of peace of mind. If you do it yourself- angle grinder, 80 grit flap disk and a wipe off of acetone. My next trailer I am re-sealing just as soon as I get home and before I use it. My repairs from two small leaks have been around $2000 doing it myself
