I am considering an SUV for a daily driver (instead of the Ram 3500). What is everyone driving? I absolutely do not want a Ford. I am pretty open to any other brand. It doesn't need to be a large one because it won't be used to tow at all. I just want decent mileage and dependable but drives well.

I think Kia’s and Hyundai’s are hard to beat in reliability and such.  Honda’s run forever too.  I drove a rental Nissan Murano 6 hours each way to Chicago and liked the way it drove.

Absolutely loved my 4 Runner.   Chan was little when I sold it, and he even still talks about what a good vehicle it was--had it for 10 years and not a bit of trouble.

Before I got my truck I had  Nissan Murano and absolutely loved that car! Plenty of room for 5 adults, and you can fold the back seats completely flat. And it was just a very comfortable car.

We have a Honda CR-V and it's wonderful for commuting and running errands. I can haul a couple hundred pounds of grain in the back end of it, and it gets about 25 mpg.

Personally, I still prefer my Explorer (the interior is way nicer) but the Honda is a good reliable little run-around car.

We are driving our 2nd GMC Terrain.  Put a 125,000 miles on the first one so we decided we had better trade.  Love the mileage and leg room for the back seat passengers.

I have been looking for a new daily driver as well. I need something with some clearance and 4WD, so far I really like the 4 Runners or the new RAV-4s. I know I definitely do not want to go with a Ford or Jeep. I like their looks, but they are way over priced for their long term value.

Love my Honda CR-V. Bought my first one brand spankin new and drove it til it had about 195,000 miles. Traded it off and bought a Nissan Rogue, hated it and traded it off when it was paid for, and went back to a Honda CR-V. Love, love, love my little car. Gets about 26 miles per gallon, which is nice since we have about a 40 mile commute one way to work. They are very reliable and nice little SUVs.

Do you have children in carseats? If so, you may want to google "Year Make Model Car Seat Check" for some reviews from car seat techs on how easy car seats are to install, how well they fit, etc.

If you don't have children, just disregard that comment. LOL!

I drive a 2010 explorer and I HATE it. So I can't blame you for not wanting a Ford. I told my husband when we get a new to us SUV, I want an Acura MDX or Infiniti QX60. I'd love a Toyota 4Runner, but car seat wise, it won't work for us, which is a shame bc they're great vehicles. No more Fords unless it has Powerstroke in it and that's final!

Mazda CX 5, hands down. Love love it. A Honda CR-V would be my next choice.

I hav e a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. I like it. We get lots of snow and it's awesome in that. Gas mileage is a little disappointing tho. It get's about 22-25. It's a little V6.

I’m gonna jump in and tell you what not to get!  I had a chev trax.  I did really love it.  Great gas mileage, good in snow muddy roads.  Well 30,000 miles the oil pump disintegrated!  They said it looked like shrapnel.  After telling the story to a handful of people with the same engine sounds like that’s common.  After that things just fall apart.  I immediately traded it off for a dodge pick up with a V6.  Almost like a SUV but the benefits of having a pick up.  Good luck and happy shopping!  It’s always fun getting a new rig!

When I still needed a commuter care, I had 2 different Foresters & LOVED them.  Comfy, great on mileage, no mechanical issues (first one had not been maintained very well but was cheap enough to put the $$ in to it to get it back to good.  It was the 5 spd manual & that baby got high 30's mpg!  Wanted a newer one so traded it in & the new one was the upgraded model, nicer, but less mileage - 25-30 highway).  And I drove in all kinds of weather & road conditions with them (including deep snow on unplowed roads)

Well, I bought a vehicle. It isn't an SUV. LOL. I ended up with a use Hyudai Elantra hatchback. It is small but has lots of interior room. It's a 6 speed manual and so far is getting a little over 30 MPG. I haven't driven it very much yet because we went out of town and were towing, so we drove the truck. It was fairly cheap with around 60K miles on it so we will see how it works out.

Thanks for everyone's input
