Location: Iowa | If you were looking at foals to purchase and they had some big names on their papers, however, the sire is not enrolled into any incentives, would that stop you from purchasing? Example: Nice stallion out of a Dash Ta Fame mare bred some nice broodmares with: CS Flashlight, French StreakToVegas, A French Streak, Frenchmans Guy all on their papers. Nice babies, but not eligible for any incentives, reasonably priced. The owners of the stallion do not have plans to enroll him anytime soon. Would that hinder you from purchasing a foal? Makes me wonder how many of the pro rodeo horses are eligible for the stallion incentives, or does the stallion incentives focus more on the futurity world? Incentives like Future Fortunes, Select Stallions, 5 State Breeders, MN Breeders, Grid Iron etc. Thanks in advance! :) |

The only rodeo targeted incentive that I know of is PESI. The rest are more geared toward futurity or D races or both. Some of them have only one event they finance. Some give money to a number of races and/or futurities. You would have to decide what your objective for the foal is. There's a lot of money out there for horses which are not paid into any incentives. Some say it's nice to have extra money to run at. But some people just can't invest in every incentive or they have to do more business to justify additional expense. I dropped out of all but my local incentives as most people who buy my babies don't haul around the country chasing the bigger incentive races.
hey, I just noticed you got a nickname When did that happen |
