| What is everyone using that helps prevent both fore and hind gut ulcers? I spoke with my vet and will be getting an omeprazole/sulfacrate compound mixture to try and treat for both for 30 days, but want something that will actually maintain afterwards. Would love to hear what has been working for everyone, thank you! |

Location: South Georgia | The vets at the specialty hospital put my horse on Assure Guard Gold. Helps with ulcer maintenance after treatment, digestion, and also has psyllium to help with inflammation in the GI system and hindgut. |

| 1) Alfalfa. There are many articles out there on how alfalfa helps prevent ulcers. I feed a flake with each feeding as preventative. 2) Make sure they have constant acess to hay/forage if possible. 3) Feed a grain-free feed if possible. I like Triple Crown Senior. It's grain-free, beat pulp based, and puts on weight well. 4) Aloe vera juice is thought to help prevent ulcers, and it's so cheap it's worth adding it in. 5) I had a vet recommend also adding marshmallow root for my super ulcer prone gelding and he didn't have a flare up while on it. |

Location: Willows, CA | GastroBuf from Stance Equitec. I think that you can order from Smart Pac. This is the only one that I have seen that will work for both gastric ulcers and hind gut acidosis. It uses the same dehydrated marine algae that is used in Outlast, but at a much higher rate. Delivered on a dried coconut oil carrier and has a tumeric. This is the real deal for gastric health. Eliminate grain based feed. Include some alfalfa in the the diet, and have clean water and roughage available at all times. Be sure teeth are up to date, as the horse must be able to comfortably chew as much as they need to to make saliva. The saliva that a horse makes is part of the natural buffer for stomach acid. |

| I use Bluebonnet's Procare feed, and Stride's GastropHix supplement (it helps the fore and hind gut). |

This is also what I use along with Lifeline Plus. I just add one scoop since there is already some in the ProCare. Very happy with this on top of HayRite alfalfa cubes, decent coastal hay, and pasture. |

I just use dynapro and I've had no issues. |

| I really like Gastroelm plus. Treated with omeprazole from Abler then maintained with Gastroelm plus. I also like Succeed but Gastroelm plus is more in my budget. When I haul I start two days out with omeprazole, every day on the road and two days after returning home. |
