Savings account for a decent chunk - most experts will say 6 months of living expenses.  We’ve found that to be a continuous cycle because well, life.  But we put a chunk of my paycheck in savings and we invest some too.

Then invest.  We have 401k’s and IRA’s.  A health savings account is also an option that could be a safety net plus investment.  I am admittedly not familiar with money markets and their ROI’s and rules on withdraws to give an opinion there.

Money markets are an interest bearing account you can write a lmiited number of checks from per month. Savings are interest bearing accounts that you can't write checks from, but can make withdrawals by ATM, in person, etc.

^^^ This .... Money Market accounts will usually pay a higher rate of interest. However, you will have limited withdrawals/per month and have to keep a required balance.

I have both.  The Money Market accout draws a better interest, but it is still basically a savings account.  I talked to my wealth manager last week as he is the one that advises on my IRA through my work place and he suggested that I open a Schwabs savings account.

Put it in a CD.  It will be a little harder to access, and earn 10X more.  Just make sure you understand the penalty if you do need to access it.

...and you have a choice as to what length of time you want to put it in.  The shorter the CD timeframe the less interest it draws (sadly) unless your bank has a special.
