Good morning! I was wondering if anyone could recommend someone for barrel lessons near Fort Worth.  I am about an hour south of there, so the closer, the better.  I got a new gelding in December (an older finished horse, 2D with previous rider).  He is a great horse and I love him to death but we just cant get it together.  I barrel raced for 20 years, then took 5 years off.  Really every horse I ran for those 20 years was the same...jump on and go, push-style, never had to worry about hitting a barrel.  My new gelding is super high strung and a free runner, but he is conrtollable...just prancy.  Weve done tons of slow work and i can put him right where I want him...a great pattern - however we add speed and he is anticipating turns, I feel like he is running through the bit into the turn (were using a Sherry Cervi short shank dogbone as recommended by his previous owner).  I've been looking for a clinic but just havent found one in the area yet.  I thought maybe a few lessons would be helpful.  Unfortunately I am apparently not one of those people who can jump on anything and win a check

What town are you in?  That may help narrow down the search a little.

Cleburne, TX.  I've found a few trainers that offer lessons north of Fort Worth (about an hour and a half one way)...which is fine, I was just looking for specific recomendations

Molly is my fave!  It would be a dream to get a lesson from her!  I've checked her website, I know the costs but it seems to only be weekdays.  At the moment I cant get off work on a weekday  :o

AND I will be out of town for her upcoming clinic :o(   :o(

Paul Humphrey or Molli Montgomery.

Paul is north of FW and I know he does lessons.

Dont feel bad! Ive owned my mare 4 years of working through training and pain issues from the prior owner along with feet issues last year. We are JUST NOW starting to lay down consistent nice runs. It takes time and figuring each other out.
