How many of you only feed alfalfa cubes/coastal combo rather than processed feeds? I have read a few posts where some are feeding free choice alfalfa, free choice coastal hay, pasture, and salt/mineral blocks. If you are currently feeding or have fed only this in the past, what are the pros and cons? What do you believe to be the benefits from this feeding program? I feel like this would be a game changer in my feeding lifestyle, but want to hear opinions before making this change. Are you feeding this to competition horses? I'm sure I have more questions that aren't coming to mind at the moment, but if you guys can offer any insight, I will be more than grateful.

I'm in the process of trying to simplify my feeding program and get the best bang for my buck. I do feed alfalfa cubes and hay and a small amount of a processed grain,  which I'm trying to get away from the grain because I know im not feeding the required amounts to get the nutrients in. My horses are currently not in much work and have one retiree. They are kind of fat so I dont want to keep feeding more to get their vitamins in.
