My house isn't western by any means but I try to throw some rustic/country/farmhouse touches in there. Attached are a few photos of my dining room after we had our dining table redone and bought new rattan chairs. I do have a jute rug in there now and some nuetral curtains. However my dining room is currently a mess so a photo as is looks now totally isn't happening lol!

Ask Crosspur to post some pics of her new house.  It's rustic and beautiful.

I couldn't remember who had just done a new house, so I'm glad you posted this!

My house was originally an old barn.  When I bought the property they had made it into a two bedroom house.  I changed it to a one bedroom house.  When I took down a drop ceiling I found a wire that looked like a two year old had spliced it so I decided to demo to the bare bones cinder block structure.  I love the end result.  All ceilings are wood as they were the original underside, of the flat roof.  I had the contractor order trusses and put on a raised roof.  My favorite room is the master bedroom since I finally allowed the contractor to do the real limestone wall.  Anyways here are a couple pics of before and after rooms.  Disregard the dog kennels in bedroom before LOL I used to have three Great Danes!  I think the best design feature other than the limestone wall is using a sliding door (barn style) for entry to the closet.  I didn't want cold concrete floors (Kansas) and heated flooring wasn't an option so I used a plank vinyl (peal and stick style).

      • We turned an old barn into our home too.  Some of the pics are from when we had a Christmas party but you get an idea what it looks like.

Roanrider ... I love your use of sliding doors!!  I wish I had the height of your ceiling.  Wondering how you did the insulation for side walls and ceiling?

The Indian pony was carved out of a single huge piece of wood. My wife likes western/Native American/southwestern art.

Thank you.  We studded the inside and put insulation/drywall up on the interior.  The exterior we used furring strips with sheet insulation then put the barn wood on exterior so it's insulated on interior and exterior walls.  For the ceiling we wanted to keep the original wood exposed so we built a new roofing structure on top of the original roof and did blow in insulation.  We have in floor heat and it's wonderful in the winter.
