next month I am heading back to school to start a new career in Paramedicine... after working in the ag industry for 7 years. so that being said, its a one year schooling program. I have a very nice 1d mare who is 8 now, we havent hauled as much as id like to because im saving for school, and wont likely run much next spring either, I enjoy her, absolutly love her, and have worked very hard to get her where she is. the most logical thing to do would be to sell her and then I would be finacially set to get myself through school. I also have a 6 year old mare that i bred, who has the poteniall to be a 1d horse but she needs some more work, I was planning on selling her after she foals, i also enjoy her as well but she needs the work and time to get there. I also have a 2 year old that Is a keeper! I'm torn on what the smartest move is, my main horse would likely have to sit for a good year, and then once im back working we would start hauling again. this mare is definatly rodeo material (i've had offers through the year to buy her, and take her to some pro rodeos), but I just like to haul for fun, here and there, maybe the odd rodeo! my goal one day down the road is to make our amature rodeo fianls! and I really enjoy running her, I really love her. I'm torn about selling her because I wouldnt have to finacially worry about a studen loan, and then she would get to her fullest potenial. but I'm worried im selling my once in a longtime horse, can i take her to the potenial shes capable of? no! but shes very happy with me I do know that. but if I sell her then I could focus on my 6 year old and get her going to her potential. I bought her last year and she has a few quirks from being pushed too hard, that I am working through, we are taking things very slow! she is incredibly talented and fast, just fragile minded but exrtemly confident, I do have alot of fun on her! I need to sell one.... or I keep both for this year, and sell my six year old after we have weaned the foal off as a broodmare/ project mare to pay for part of my studen loan.. |
