| My farrier has recommended it before, but said to make sure it’s real, or 100%, or true (one of those 3, I forget) turpentine. I guess most of the ones sold for horse feet are not.... i now love Keratex Hoof Hardener. My Farrier also recommended it. It’s expensive, but works!!! I paint it on the sole but avoid the frog and heel bulb. |

Yes, make sure it's Venice turpentine, NOT the turpentine you get at the paint store. Two completely different things. |

Location: South Georgia | Farrier has suggested Keratex Hoof Hardener for my guy. He then suggested I switch to Farrier Barrier for the wet/dry transitions we have in the summer here. |

Location: Claremore, OK | Venice turpentine packed for multiple days or Magic Cushion. Both of these only toughen the sole. You want to grow sole, sometimes equithane pads for a couple cycles will allow him to grow sole. OE Hoof Evolution has a vasodilator in it along with hoof supp. If you don’t have good circulation in the foot, not much grows. Hardening what you’ve got would be the first step. |
