| Miss Abbie. I love this mare so much. After Bob broke his hand, I had to pull the whole load. The heat was killing me, the stall cleaning was killing me & I felt life was killing me. I was so exhausted. I was about to fall apart & I hung my body over abbies stall wall trying to catch my breath & crying. All of a sudden I felt a muzzle on my hand, then I felt a muzzle on my head & then she started nuzzling my hair. Then she laid her head on my shoulder & just stood there like, mom, don't cry, it will be ok. There is a softness & kindness in her that goes above anything I've ever seen. All my horses are lovable, but abbie, well she is just sensitive to everyone's feelings. Abbie is a true representation of what a Driftwood horse is all about. God blessed me with an amazing horse. "Heck's Coming With Me"

Location: Kansas | Mary, I know "exactly" how you feel as I've just been through eight miserable weeks of fighting flooding in our basement. You can't leave the house because of the fear of either the sump pump failing (which it did) or the electricity going off (which it also did) and then throw in a storm with 100 mile an hour winds that brought down three grown trees. Shop vacs, utility pumps, water coming up through cracks in the floor. It's been a nightmare and at times I was so tired I wanted to jump in front of a bus. Oddly enough, as much as I love horses, I've never felt that kind of caring from them. It's my small four-legged friends that give me comfort. That little brown cocker spaniel and that obnoxious red heeler along with a furry little calico housecat. I think for both of us it may be time to quit working so hard and kick back and enjoy life. I'm ready. This getting old stuff is not for the faint of heart. |
