Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | TBone - 2018-03-09 12:16 PM I just started a test: two horses on 3/4 lb Renew Gold + 1/2 lb whole oats twice per day and the other two on 3/4 lb Max-E Glo + 1/2 lb whole oats twice per day. Interested in seeing if I notice a difference. Ends up being .30/day difference per horse. Just started this so no conclusions yet.
Since this thread got bumped back up was wondering how the test went? |

Location: Willows, CA | Since I developed both products, the results are pretty predictable if enough horses are used for the test. Clearly, I am a big fan of Stabilized Rice Bran, it will not do what Renew Gold will do in most diets, but remains as effective as always in a diet designed around it. I would have left the oats out of bothe diets if the hay quality is good. Both are considerably superior to any grain based feed concentrate in a proper diet designed to utilize them. W |

Location: CTX | I really like both. all 4 of ours get the Renew Gold, with alfalfa cubes, forco and are out on pastures. They get coastal also, since we only have a couple of acres. And I add rice bran to our thoroughbred mare that is a bit of a hard keeper and in foal right now. If I feel someone needs a bit more calories I add rice bran to their feed also. Don’t need a whole lot, just a couple of ounces a day which I like since I don’t want to pour a lot of lbs of feed to them. |

| I live in Texas and feed alfalfa, high quality coastal, and RG to my performance horses. Do I need to add minerals or a ration balancer? Thanks! |

Location: Willows, CA | For mature horses you should not need a ration balancer. Those are primarily protein support for low protein coastal hay or growing horses fed poor hay. Good quality coastal with some alfalfa in the program will take care of that fine without putting a bunch of soy and fillers in the diet. Most RG customers do not add a mineral package if hay quality is good. Good dental care, parasite control, salt and clean water should meet all needs with the diet mentioned. |
