Location: Kansas / South Dakota | Trying to get weight on a hard-keeping senior going into winter. Has been on Purina Senior, Omni cubes, Forco and Cool Cal, but not noticing much difference since adding the Forco and Cool Cal about 1.5-2 months ago. Curious if anyone has had better luck with Purina's Amplify, or any other additives for seniors? |

| Amplify is amazing. Doesnt the purina sr already have it in it though? I may be thinking of the purina sr active feed ... |

Location: Kansas / South Dakota | Yes, it does already have the Amplify in it. Just doesnt seem to be "enough." He doest have the best teeth so we're battling that and what he can/can't digest on top of all this - which is why I added the Forco. |

Location: Illinois | My 26 year old started dropping weight quickly because my 5 year old eats her hay fast & comes to share his pile when she's done. When I need to add weight to him without increasing grain I give the Senior Weight Accelerator. He's always done well with it. Cool Cal never did anything & he can't have Amplify because of his cushings. I also reccomend any of the stabilized rice bran nuggets like Nutrena Boost or Max E Glo. Renew Gold even would be good |

Location: Kansas / South Dakota | Im not opposed to Renew Gold either! If that would cover the weight gain issue and still take care of the prebiotics in the Forco to where I just had to feed one, that would be great! But I dont want to make a switch and him go downhill going into winter. Which I know is a crap shoot anyways! |

You could always add the Renew Gold now & get to the weight you want and then slowly back off the Forco and see what happens. Mine also does better when his feed is soaked, which might be because he's missing some teeth & can chew better. I think they digest/absorb it better when it's soaked |

Location: Kansas / South Dakota | I've been soaking his grain and cubes already for that reason! Would you add the RG in addition to the Cool Cal and Forco, or in place of the Cool Cal? Renew Gold isnt really a "fat" supplement though, is it?? |

Location: Illinois | I would get rid of the Cool Cal personally, replace with RG. I've had good luck with it adding weight as well in the past. My local store usually just carries 1-2 bags at a time & I found them being out a lot when I needed it so I haven't gotten any since. But liked it when I was using it. Its got the rice bran in it for fat. I've always found rice bran works best, but with mine and his cushings I have to limit his starch, he's very sensitive

I have a 31 year old mare who dropped 150 lbs last summer. She looked terrible. I thought I was going to lose her. I put her on a feeding program of 5 lbs soaked Triple Crown Senior top dressed with Omega Fields Horse Shine (1-2 cups), and soaked alfalfa cubes. She looks great!! |

I wish Triple Crown was an option around here, I've heard nothing but good things about their Senior feed! |

Location: Missouri | We feed Senior w/Amplify for my daughters mid 20s mare. She also gets soaked beet pulp and soaked alfalfa pellets. Her bucket looks like it's filled with slop every morning, but since feeding those 3 things, shes a healthier weight, shinier coat and brighter eyes. |

Location: Arkansas | Dan was on Sr Active, Forco, beet pulp, rice bran, and Platinum CJ before he died last July. He couldn't eat hay at all, and very little grass--teeth mostly gone. He went down in weight quite a bit in April '18, I added Forco, and he blossomed by June. I had talked to Mr Win about RG and possibly changing his diet, but he told me that at his age (39), and as long as he had been on the program I had him on, he would leave well enough alone. So I did. (When he was in his early 30s, I had used the Amplify and liked it.)

Location: Kansas | So my broodmare lost quite a bit of weight while she was out with the stallion as she is nursing. I tried the Cool Calories....and it definitely wasn't worth the money. I did not see a difference. Instead I just upped her feed, and put her back on free choice brome and noticed a difference in about a week. So don't waste your money on cool calories. |

The first picture was April 2018 and second one was June 2018. He was my old man but really didn't show his age until the last couple of years. No one believed he was as old as he was! I had him for 19 years, and he took a piece of my heart when he left. . . |
