WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE HORSE COMMUNITIES? WHY? IF YOU COULD MOVE TO A NEW STATE FOR EQUESTRIAN REASONS WHERE AND WHY? Let me pick your brains guys:)
Background: I'm wanting to move when my lease is up in May but I'm at a loss as to where to go! I'm from MS and have no clue in what direction I should head. I love the mountains but willing to sacrafice geography for price. I would like to rent/lease a place with room for one or two horses, or buy but that terrifies me. I LOVE rodeo but let's be honest I'm a paralegal and won't be able to haul enough to make it to the finals UNLESS there's an area with a large number of rodeos within/ 3-4hours. I love trail riding and wlll not sacriface that. So.........any advice?
Oklahoma has much better trail riding than Texas, and the barrel racing scene is good too. I'm in Texas - I go to Oklahoma to trail ride.
What part of OK? I've never actually been.....
Boerne is absolutely beautiful. Charmayne James moved down in that area. The community is very diversified. Very upscale. Probably high priced land. It is just outside of San Antonio

There is good trail riding in SE Okla, Wilburton, Talihina, Clayton. McAlester is close to there.
Decatur TX has great trail riding and is just on the NW side of Fort Worth.
Northwest Louisiana or East Texas along the I 20 corridor isn't a bad spot to be. Decent amount of horse activities and you could absolutly haul enough on the weekends to make the association finals all while driving within a 4 hour radius. Cost of living really varies depending on the exact location but there are everything from reasonably priced on up to upper scale. Mississippi would only be a hop skip and jump away as well.
