Location: Idaho | Just a quick question, anyone have any thoughts on the newer style corrientes? I am considering doing a trade for my treeless for a newer style corriente, but my mare IS hard to fit. I have posted about her in the past, my treeless works great for her but it aggravates my back sometimes and it has rolled/moved on me twice while running barrels (luckily I was able to stick it and did not fall off) and I'm still flipping through pads to find one that works. The bars on this saddle do look a little wider than the other ones I have tried in the past. This is NOT the actual saddle but it looks very similar to it.
We are supposed to send the saddles out on Tuesday.. but I am still a little unsure. I like the look but I'm worried about the fit. My mare is broad shoulders, sway backed and flat backed. :/
ETA: I guess this is a continuation of my previous post regarding saddle fit for a horse that needs a horse with a lot of rock. I am taking the advice of finding a saddle without rock (as of right now I do not have a 2-3K budget due to other financial obligations) And would get a swayback pad to fill it in. But I just want to get an idea about these saddles.. I have tried a Corriente trophy saddle and it was a touch small for her withers. But this one seems like the bars are pretty wide compared to that one and I need something to clear her spine and wide back. Thanks!

Location: Texas | I ride in a newer style corriente. Square skirt with a padded seat. It fits my mare well and she's filled out over time. It's comfortable, seats me well with my green horses that like to bounce around and it stays in place. I bought it used and it's held up really nicely. I will say that based on what a friend has told me with her corriente-- those hard seats are pretty but NOT comfortable. |

Location: North Dakota | I won a new style last year. Gorgeous saddle. Fit Red and Dexter pretty decent and they have two different body types. Did not fit Shotgun (but he's hard to fit anyway - he has big shoulders yet he is narrow at the same time). I did really liike that the Corriente seemed to have lots of flare in the shoulders. Ultimately, I ended up selling it because it did not fit ME. I felt like I was "perched" and I need to be able to really sit for my turns. And yes, as mentioned above, the seat was NOT comfortable. It wasn't the shape (which was actually fine without padding, surprisingly), but it was the pencil roll that dug into the back of my thighs. Maybe a normal padded seat without the pencil roll would have suited me better. |

| My rope saddle is a heard seat, I find it really comftrotable and well made for the price. I honestly dont think there's better value for your dollar out there. I mean theres better saddles but they have high end price tags lol. As far as I know there is only one tree option so if it was a new style trophey saddle and it did not fit, it wont fit. If it was one of the old ones thought it may fit, as the new style does fit mu h better IMO they seem to work all right on most horses. They are really easy to sell though without losing money if it absoultly does not work.

Location: Fort Worth / Springtown | I am not sure about the new Corriente's - I tried the old one and really pinched one of my horses, but never did try on another horse. The angle of the bars were wide, but too wide for my horse, so the top of the bars really pinched. i know you said the treeless hurts your back and you are low new saddle funds, but I would say, though, for any situation - and especially for any saddle with your wide backed horse - I am a big fan of Thinline pads. there are a lot of choices on their website, but what I REALLY find useful, is just the Thinline pad, itself, to use as a liner -- they have one that is 1/4" thick. And their Ultra Thinline is even thinner (3/8" thick) --- it helps add a little grip to stablilize the pad/saddle as well as shock absorption. It is somewhat similar to neoprene, but NOT neoprene. It actually breathes - sweat will even penetrate all the way through the liner. I have a very wide mare and I keep going back to the thinline pads with her.

Location: New Mexico | It's funny that there's another post about Charmayne James saddles and when I saw how your horses withers are based on the photo, it made me think the CJ would be perfect! As for the Corrientes, I ride one on a mare that has pretty substantial withers. I have not found the Corrientes to fit everything. It will likely be too narrow for anything with wider withers or shoulders. Here's a photo of the one I've got.

| I'm going to be in the market for a new saddle here before long. I have always rode a saddle that let me move around BUT I don't ride as well as I used to and the mare that I'm going to be riding is very light and feels every move. I want a saddle that will kept me still and help hold me when she launches off. I have been looking at photos of the Corriente saddles and really like the looks of them. I refuse to buy any saddle without putting it on her and at least riding around in it some though. Not sure if that is going to be a possiblity or not. |

I have actually looked at the thin line pads, and I like the way that they sound but my main problem with my mare is not so much the wideness, is that the saddles that don't have the rock in the tree (Double J #10, #11 and Caldwell) tend to bridge on her spine. Thanks for all your guys feedback btw, I decided not to go through with the trade as I just don't think it would have fit her. I did end up selling my Bob Marshall earlier this week and I just bought a Teskey yesterday, I have always been a fan of Teskey and they always seem to fit my horses nice, hopefully, this will be the case! I am looking at the swayback reinsman pad with the tacky too bottom or a CSI to help the bridging issue. Crzy, I actually had a Charmayne James Record Breaker on her before my treeless and it was just too wide for her on her shoulders/wither area. I am a huge fan of Cactus and I was so sad to let that saddle go!

Location: California | I custom ordered a very similar saddle to the one you posted but it was a rope saddle. Hard seat, square skirt, drop down rigging, pencil roll seat. I LOVE the looks of it and the durability of it. It does fit every horse to an extent. It has never pinched one and I have ridden it on ponies to draft horses. On some horses it does sit a bit lower in the front than I would like. I use it to breakaway rope so it sitting me forward is okay, however, just to ride all day long in it or to put it on a downhill colt it sits me too forward with my legs too far back. It rides on my three uphill build horses amazingly. |
