| I have a horse that wont lope flat and climbs when loping. She has just been started on the pattern at a slow lope. Literally no reason for it. Rides around fine but when you get to the pattern and start to lope she starts climbing and you cant get her flat. How do you fix this? Has been fully vetted by a top perf vet. |

| I have one that climbs at a lope in work but is flat on the pattern. Speed definitely smooths his gait out. If yours has just started pattern work I wouldn't worry it. Go out and breeze her and see if she climbs when galloping? |

Location: Windoming | I had one that did that when I first started riding him. Almost didn't buy him because of it. I blamed it on the way he was started. He soon got over it and became an awesome horse. |

| My mare does this as well. I was so concerned with it when is started riding her that it would prevent her from being a barrel horse. Once she started on the pattern I didnt even notice it. She can flat out run and turn with no issues. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I have never heard this term as in Horse Climbing either, since I have been on BHW theres alot of terms that I have never heard befor, lol. So exactly what is horse climbing? Is it a horse that uses alot of front end motion like kind of hopping/bouncing up in the front end wanting to run while holding them back? |

| I describe it more as a weird rocking chair motion. All horses rise at least briefly to begin to lope. Some horses flatten out immediately, some not. I've now had two that always feel/felt like they were rising a foot in their front end for each stride. Boy was like that. He was a cowbred and cowed a barrel, very much dropped into barrels, but ran flat. Peon climbs at a lope except through the poles. He also flattens out with speed. His turning style is a bit teardrop snap. |

| Climbing as In not wanting to lope with the front end on the ground. Wants to lope 'up' in the front end and bounces up and down |

| Every watch show jumping? A lot of those hunter jumpers climb in the front end. They rock onto the back end, elevate in the front and get the front legs really high. The high strung jumpers do it inbetween the jumps when their being held. |
