I had my blood tested last year it was low 4.1 had a recent test yesterday it was 3.0 nurse said it's possibly a rare kind of blood cancer called granulocytopenia if it's rare what are my chances of survival?
Also need prayers please .
The nurse should not have told you that. I hope your personal doctor will step up to the plate and call you. I would call back and ask to speak to him. Not the nurse. I rarely use Dr Google, but if you do, you will see this definition. https://hellomrdoctor.com/granulocytopenia/ Obviously, it should be treated, but I didn't find anything that said it was a rare cancer. I hope you find answers and get better soon. |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | First of all, you need to talk to your doctor about something you feel might be life threatening, not his nurse. "Granulocytopenia" isn't a disease, per se'. It literally means a condition characterized by low "granulocytes", which is a type of white blood cell. Granulocytes are mainly neutrophils, but other less common white cells like eosinophils and basophils are also granulocytes. Neutrophils are important in fighting infections. Many things can cause a low granulocyte count....drugs, viruses, toxins, other illnesses, and sometimes a cause is never identified. You really need to sit down with your doctor and go over this. The internet isn't the best place. You wouldn't settle for discussing a potentially severe condition in your horse with a vet tech, I'm guessing. You'd want to talk to the vet. Treat yourself with the same sense of urgency.
