I keep having back issues and wondering if maybe Ulcers could be causing this? This has been going on from day one since Ive owned this horse and had many saddle changes, vet apt's(they just said he needed to be adjusted), chiro apt's and have owned this horse about 2 years. He has NOT been hauled yet as I had all these saddle issues then finally found a saddle and now it is back issues and very sore over the loin after about a month after chiro comes out. Pretty much ready to haul him to sale barn as I dont know what I do next? Trying 8 doses of Ulcer guard and if that dont work, I may give up!
Have you xrayed the back? Someone had suggested ulcers or needing adjusted on mine and she ended up having KS and fractures
Vet did not do any xrays. They came out and said he just needed an ajustment. When they did spring shots I totally forgot to ask about it but had rode that day and he was fine. Now he is super sore over the loin.
My PSSM mare gets really sore over the loin if I don't keep her on kidney support supplements (like buckling under pressure) along with managing her diet meticulously. Took me two years and lots of vets to figure out pssm was the cause. She has been sound a couple of months now!
I was just looking at lack of Magnesium and issues it could cause and he has quite a few of them? Another thing I could look into.
When I pushed down over the loin on Fri, he exhaled and jumped to the side. Super sore again and had not been rode since last Sat and deffintly did not have a good ride on him that day...He has been chiro, magna waved, red light therapy and this last time the chiro adjusted a few spots and used a tuning fork on him.
If this was my horse I would have him checked for Kissing Spine, sounds like this could be the issue with yours.
Are you treating for hind gut ulcers also? Pain in the hocks can cause pain in the loin area. Has your vet done a flex test?
