My husband and I are thinking about putting in an outdoor arena at our acreage. I only live 10 minutes from a large outdoor and an a small indoor so for the last few years, I just haul to town whenever I ride. However, I am tired of leaving the truck hooked up and hauling, so we are contemplating put in an outdoor at out house. My husband’s big question – will putting up an arena affect the resale value of our acreage? We know we will not stay at our current acreage forever simply because we will move to the family farm when our parents pass – but that could hopefully be 30 years from now! Thoughts?
Can you just till up a piece of pasture? No fences to worry about, and when you leave it can go back to being a pasture.
I thought about doing no fence, except we live right on a busy highway and I have young horses so I get a little nervous. I would really like to work some dirt up and add some sand to it.
Yes.

Yes, in a negative or positive way?
I dont think it would really hurt resell value as you can just doze it out, but then again it could hurt resell value, just depends on where you are located, but I think a Portable arena would be ideal if you are planning to move one day, you can tear it down and move it to your new place and have your arena there and you dont have to spend more money for another arena.. I have seen some really nice portables..
