| Shawne Bug Leo or Firewaterontherocks? We plan on breeding to both, but for 2021 I can only pick one (the other one will be 2022). Which one would you get on the ground first, and why? We plan on using frozen semen, so there won't be any concerns with cooled shipped quality. Thank you! |

Location: Texas | I have a Shawne Bug Leo and he is pretty awesome. But FWOTR is also awesome too! I will say, make sure their contracts give you the option of using frozen semen if that is what you are wanting. some stallions have frozen, some don't. Some do but save it. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | They are 2 totally different types of stallions. My husband has seen FWOTR in person. I'd love a SBL someday. |

Frozen semen is nothing but a major problem and more expenses .. glad to see you are going to use cooled semen .. Your choice of stallions should be on how they cross on the pedigree, conformation and athletisism of your mare. The Barrel Racing Report has more barrel racing horse data on it than anywhere else in a timely manner. It is a free weekly email publication that covers the previous week. Click on this link and go to page 3 and see if you can locate your stallion picks. file:///C:/Users/bhusa2/Pictures/2.5%20PHOTOS/BHR.pdf The most impressive up and coming sire on there is SLICK BY DESIGN and his first full breeding year of progeny hasn't hit the arenas yet .. Slick has been busy earning almost $650,000 in pro rodeo NFR monies .. His 4 year old son SLYE BY DESIGN has a dam Katies Chick that has won over $400,000 in LTE earnings which should bring him into a leading sires position when his get are old enough to compete .. that is over a million $$$'s from sire and dam!! His sire and dam have both won rounds at the NFR. That is a good reason to name my 2020 filly ..... https://www.allbreedpedigree.com/imamilliondollarbaby Chill a little .. 2021 breeding season is a long way off .. |

| How is your mare bred? Strengths and weaknesses? If sh's been bred before, what has she ben crossed on before? As you probably know, a lot more goes into it than just picking a stud, I've never had dealings with a FWOTR, but I do have 3 SBL. All have good minds, bone and conformation. Oldest is 3, so I can't say what they will be. But I really like them. SBL stud fee is going to $4000 for 2021. They are having a breeding special right now with good discounts. . |

She's a daughter of Big Brown, the 2008 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner, out of a Smoke Glacken mare. We've bred her to Hired Gun (2018 filly, 2020 colt) and Fiestas Gotta Gun (2019 filly, 2021 embryo) and she's currently in foal to Jesses Topaz for 2021. She has a great mind, good bone for a thoroughbred, correct conformation and her three foals thus far are exactly what we crossed for. I do understand the process behind picking a stallion, and this has been years in the making. Since we've been breeding her to cowbred stallions, and then JT (run and cow), we plan on now breeding her to a running bred stallion. I am a huge fan of SBL, and I think our mare would cross very well on him- I am hopeful she can add some height because most all of his babies I've seen haven't been very tall. There isn't much I would like to see improved upon, and I believe they would complement each other well. As far as FWOTR, our Fiestas Gotta Gun filly has a spark about her that our two Hired Gun foals don't, and we are presuming it comes from FGG's dam side (FWF), so after a ton of research, FWOTR is the best FWF son to complement our mare. ETA: I've already booked her to SBL for 2021, just waiting for the contract this fall. Crystal has been amazing to work with- I have had more than my fair share of questions, and am so thankful for great stallion owners like NBR that go above and beyond for mare owners.

Chill a little .. 2021 breeding season is a long way off ..
The timeline of when I choose to research a stallion, purchase a stud fee and get excited about it should be of no consequence to you, so please don't tell me to "chill a little". Also, I have had very good luck breeding with frozen semen and use a highly capable and successful equine repro veterinarian that I trust with my life, so if frozen semen were an option I wouldn't mind using it. |

I would contact High Point or Nickel bar Ranch to confirm frozen on SBL. High Points website states he does both and Nickel Bar says only cooled. |

| Your mare should be an interesting cross on SBL. Pulling in some of the same TB lines. My mare stands just a froghair under 16 hands. My colts out of SBL and her are ranging from the 3 year old being 15-3 to the yearling looking like she will be around 15ish. |
