How does the number of Judges effect the points?  More judges = more points given??

sort of..... if you have one judge they place the class as they see it and then issue points based on the number of entrys for that class.  if you have multiple judges then they each place the class as they see it and issue points for each judge based on the number of entrys for that class.  You might win under 1 judge but not place under another.

In halter classes or reining this applies but in timed events it is different. The points are calculated by the number of horses that actually compete in the event according to AQHA's point chart. Then the number of points is multipled by the number of judges. Just random example-  you place second in a barrel class and there are enough entries for you to get 2 points. It is a 5 judge show so the total number of points you would get would be 10. That is why people go to multiple judge shows. It is difficult to get points in barrel racing because the classes don't have many entries. Maybe if you run at Houston or somewhere large like that but most shows don't even have a Jr and Sr pole or barrel class  it is combined. If they have it at all.

I think Spencer is referring to the roping classes.
the only classes that ARE NOT judged are the speed events (barrels, poles, stakes)

Roping, although it's timed, is a judged event. Horses are placed individually, by each judge, and earn points as per placings by each judge . The last few years the Holiday Circuit has been triple judged.

This is my thought also since hes got his stud in training with Mr. Yates.

Yes, refering to the roping classes.  And Roxie, it actually isn't the stud yet.  This is just a couple young mares we are showing. Just wanting to get them a few points.

I know roping is judged.  I was talking about timed events like barrels, poles and stakes. Since this is a barrel racing site I really did not know he was talking about roping. In  MOST of the timed events there is at least one judge watching the speed events too. At the APHA World Show all the judges were sitting next to me. One female turned to the others and said "Now what are we looking for here". I was thinking what the heck???  They don't care about speed events at these registered shows.
