Need input from others that have owned HighBrow/Pepto cross bred babies. In everyones experience are they HOT? We have a 3yr old, just gelded him a month ago colt and he is very flighy (getting better on this) but got himself a little temper. He will come around and work but you have to be as mean as him. What are some of the techniques you use to work with horses like this?

Thanks, have a blessed and wonderful day.

Usually pretty laid back. But I have a yellow Roan of Texas, who is by peptoboonsmal, and she burns a little on the hot side.

Mine isn't a HBC but she is bred similar to him on her grandsire and then is Pepto and Smart Little Pep up the hind end throughout the rest of her papers. She is about as sensitive and flighty as you can get. She is a 2012 model and I'm still waiting for her to mentally mature a tad before I start hauling her. Phenom ranch and cow horse (she is an ex cutter). Very speedy little feet.

as in smart little pepinic??    Fillinic, where that line originated was HOT, my YROT filly is from that same female line.  https://www.allbreedpedigree.com/chantillys+rose2

Fillinic, was also the foundation of the NRCHA.  Heres a little write up on her.

He is bad flighty and spooky, we had a young lady ride him for 30 days and he met his match with her.... She tied a milk jug with rocks in his tail, he came home a little bit better he still has an attitude tho. lol He is a short bay roan with a star  georgious horse.

I have a 4 year old HBC on the top side with run on the bottom. Not sure how much it plays into it, but he can be a little flighty. But once you show him and it sinks in, he doesn't forget. BUT.... if that spot changes, he notices! And he's spooky about it all over again. He is pretty cool though and about the smartest and easiest horse I have ever rode.

I haven't had one pesonally so I can't honestly say, but I have heard from several people that peptoboonsmal get broncy as they get older. Unlike most horses that get more laid back they get worse with age.

Love these kinds of comments.  Let me guess, it was from your sisters, best friends, mother-in-law's boyfirend.

I have a Peptoboonsmal granddaughter (she is by Perfect Pepto) that is on the hotter side. Not stupid at all but has a huge motor, works better loped down, on the muscle type horse. She is not a bronc, nor has she ever told me no, she just is a go go go horse. I have her half sister that is by a Sonitalena stud and she is the exact opposite when it comes to that. She is kick to go, low headed, much more quiet and laid back. I have been told the Pepto can make some hot but this is my only experience thus far. With all the being, said I would take another Pepto no problem!

I have a Peptoboonsmal grandaughter and she runs hot. Super fun little horse with 150% smarts & try! The good far out weighs her being a firecracker.  But i'd say best suited for quiet laid back riders. I cant ever see her getting along with an intense agressive rider.
