| I have a gelding who is just complete 50/50 at the gate depending on the location and the set up of an arena/alley. Moreso 80/20 these days thankfully. Normally he walks straight in and out, especially jackpots. But rodeos he gets SO excited that his legs HAVE to keep moving and sometimes that's not an option due to set ups and the new 'layouts' during covid. He's not afraid to freight train into the arena when someone else is running, so camping out in the alley isn't always an option either. He's fine day 1, but after being stalled all weekend, he gets baby brain and has so much energy pent up that he just lets it all loose. I ride him daily and moreso when he's getting stalled but it doesn't seem to help. He's 14 this year and was sold to me due to these alley issues he has, because he DOES get carried away at times.. Loves his job, just a tad too much lol Looking for something to take the !! out of him so his brain can function a little better. I used to use Confidence EQ on him and it helped so so much, but unfortunately he had an allergic reaction to it, so I'm back on the search for something that may help his anxiety and excitement at the gate! I've tried Liquid Xanax from Deanna Harrison's mix and loved it so may be going back to that route? *He's SUPER picky with his feed, so adding something daily isn't an option.. He is currently on herbs (gut and structural), hay pellets, MVP Mega Cell (vitamins and mins) and Exceed 6 Way. Turned out 24/7 on a round bale and pasture. When we haul he gets 10cc CEP Gut Check (was using zesterra, but allergic to corn) when we load, while I'm saddling, then right before I run (so 30cc total on race day). I do give him 10cc a couple days prior and the day after as well. |

| I can't give you advice on calmers, there is so much stuff out there that its a crap shoot finding what works on YOUR horse. One thing about your post caught my eye. You mentioned that he was worse at rodeos. Have you tried earplugs? One of the horses I'm showing right now is bothered by loud anouncers and music. When I put in ear plugs, he chills more and foccuses better. While I don't think it would take all the anexiety out, it's something cheap to try that might help some. I use Pomms earplugs. |

Location: Opelousas, LA | The Pomms earplugs are awesome! I have a super jumpy colt that I use them on and he really likes them, he will tilt his head towards me to put them on. He doesn't like the noise in the starting gates, it really rattles him but with the earplugs he's good. I also like Engage from Stride and Sullivans show cattle paste. Just have to see what works for your horse. |

Location: Randolph, Utah | Try Zesterra. It helped my mare a ton with her gate issues. I would give 10CC when I saddled. I still use it on all my horses when I saddle regardless if they have a gate issue or not. When they are stalled, I will give 10CC 1-2 times a day depending how they act. |

| I went and got some pomms and ordered some liquid xanax as well! We are also treating for EPM, as we do annually anyways, and we're thinking that may be push comes to shove in regards to some other issues we've had. I will keep everyone updated! Thanks for all the help :) |
