I would love to buy this saddle I found posted on fb but its a good distance and would need to be shipped. IDK how comfortable I am sending 3000$ to a stranger and hoping I get a saddle! Anything I could do to make it more secure? Anyone do this often on here?

Thanks

100

Use Paypal. ONLY pay with Goods and Services! Do not use anything else as you do not have buyer protection!

If the saddle comes falsely advertised or you never even get a saddle, you will get your money back. Make sure to take screenshots of the conversation and keep them until you have the saddle in hand.

I just did this and it worked out better than great. I contactd our 1 mutual froend to see if they could give a recommendation, you could ask people on their friends list. (I did tell the seller I was doing this).
i got pictures with the date and persons name on a sheet of paper in tbe pictures to prove it was her pictures. I used paypal with goods and services checked. I asked for shipping insurance and tracking.

The personal voucher from friends really helped me go for it.

Good luck!!

I've bought my last 2 saddles off Facebook, thankfully both turned out well though the second one I was pretty sure I had been taken as after the payment went thru suddenly it was radio silence on her end and I kept getting excuse after excuse as to why it hadn't shipped yet. Stupid me I had actually offered more than she was asking for it too to include shipping at which time she then held it up because the amount ended up being 1.52 or something short.  Both saddles though were exactly what and how they were represented so alls well that ends well.  I will however probably not do that again, figure that being 2 for 2 is pushing my luck.

I have bought and sold saddles and tack on FB. Just a few more suggestions, there are a few "good and bad tack seller" pages. I will use the search function in these groups to look up anyone I am thinking about buying from. I also look into their FB page. Is it a new page or has it been used a while, does the name match the name in the url, are there any horse pictures, is what I am wanting to buy in the horse pictures, etc. As others have said, only pay though PayPal using the goods and services and keep all of the conversations. I know you said you are buying but I have seen bad sitiuations where weeks/months later the buyer said the purchase was unauthorized or something wasn't shipped as shown and tried to get their money back. It makes me very nervous about selling anything anymore. Knock on wood, all of my transactions have worked out fine.
