Location: Tulsa, Ok | Get the very best vet care you can immediately, someone with knowledge and experience treating eyes. You need to know if you are dealing with bacterial, viral or fungal infection and treat accordingly from the get go. Ulcers can go bad in a blink and the result is loss of the eye. Not trying to scare you, but give the benefit of my experience over the years. I had one experience go bad and one miraculously well. Timely and aggressive treatment is essential. |

Location: Kansas | To make a long story short with a past experience, penicillin solved my problem with an old TB racehorse we own. It was an awful eye and would not heal. The vets were not helping and a poster on here USA BarrelRacer outsmarted my vets and a longrunning problem thankfully ended. |

Location: Rodeos or Baseball games | Thank you all for your relies. Yes, it turned bad fast. She now has a subpalpebral lavage and we have been treating for 10 days today. We are scheduled for a check up on Friday. What would be the best fly mask to use once her lavage has been removed? |

Location: Tulsa, Ok | Google equine masks. There are several that are good during recovery. There is one with kind of a clear bubble over the eye that will keep them from rubbing. There are a couple of others that filter light etc. |

The good thing is, now that shes got the SPL in, it can stay in for months as long as she doesnt rip it out. It also depends on if the ulcer is a melting ulcer, a descemetocoele, or if theres also a stromal abscess component. Melting ulcers are the worst and I refer those to the university ASAP because you can definitely lose the eye. Down where I work we treat corneal ulcers for both bacterial and fungal components because odds are, its probably got both. The really superficial ulcers can resolve with topical treatment in like a week.. the bad ones or the stromal abscesses I've had them keep an SPL in for 2+ months. |

Location: Rodeos or Baseball games | The SPL broke on Monday morning so up to the vest we went, they are keeping her all week. $$$$$$ I talked to the vet this morning and he said things are progressing well so I can bring her back home Friday. Sounds like she will not need any more medication. Fingers crossed. |
