Location: South Georgia | I have a 1993 4 Star gooseneck, 3 horse slant, and I'm needing to have the jack replaced. It is broken inside somehow and cannot crank up above a certain height--which happens to be about 2" short of where I need it to hook onto the ball. Go figure. Where do you order this type of thing? The ones I am seeing online show pictures of a BP trailer with them. Are they the same thing? Looking for a weld-on model, manual. Any ideas or can you point me in a certain direction? I'm finding them online, but I'm not sure they are right for a horse trailer. |

And most of the time you can just buy the part and fix it yourself.

Is that 12" lift the standard? My husband put a 2" lift on his F250, so I'm not sure if I can get away with the standard one or if I need more now? |

When we jack it up to a certain point, it becomes very stiff and then drops down slightly. It then wont go any higher without dropping right back down. Does this sound like we need a replacement, or is a repair possible? I'm completely clueless. |

| Or, use a bigger block under the jack you have now and you will clear the trailer ball. LOL Etrailer probably has everything you need. |

Location: South Georgia | I called a dealership a couple hours from here. They said they remove manual jacks from many new trailers to replace them with electric ones. They sell the "used" jacks for $75 and it should just require a couple weld cuts and new welds. I'm going to measure to be sure what they have is the same width as what I currently have on it, but this sounds like a good route. |

4Star didn't suggest it. They said they aren't made like that any longer, so they said it would just be better to replace. |

| Getting one of the used jacks sounds like an idea. Not sure on the regular extended height but you will have to put a block under it anyway so just use whatever size block you need. Plus I'm thinking that that height doesn't include the extra height that you get when you drop down the leg before extending the jack. |

I have emailed with Billy. He told me 4Star couldn't help because the jacks are no longer the same as they were in 93 and he told me to order a replacement from Redneck Trailer Supply. He also said it could not be repaired, again due to them being made differently then. Billy was the first person I reached out to. |
