I think we need to have a feel good story and I love talking about my animals... in fact, I have come to enjoy my time spent with my animals more than I enjoy most people these days!

About 3 months ago on our way home from Sam's club, I decided to take a back road home and I spotted a little white puppy on the side of the road hiding in some brush.. I pulled over and got a closer look and saw how grossly underweight this poor baby was.. she was scared to death of me and kept running back under the barbwire into a pasture... she was covered in fleas and burrs... finally my husband got out of the truck and decided to help me because he knew I wasn't going to leave this pup behind. After about 45 minutes we were able to catch her with some dog food that I had just bought. I grabbed her up and wrapped her in my jacket.  We got her home and my daughter took her straight to the bathtub... how she survived out there, I have no idea.. that area is crawling with coyotes and bobcats. We cleaned her up, fed her and she slept... for a few days. I took her to the vet and she got some dewormer and meds for fleas .. vet said she was in pretty good health just needed groceries. We named her Sammie ... so last week, she got out front door of our house and she spooked and took off running... she never slowed down.. my daughter and her boyfriend went driving to look for Sammie.. they found her but she was scared to come to them and ran away again.  We lost her about 5 miles from our house she just disappeared into a huge corn field... we searched until it got dark ... my kids were so broken hearted as was I... I couldn't stop thinking about her being out there again.. with the coyotes... my daughrers boyfriend shot and killed a coyote that was sitting on a round bale right where Sammie ran into those fields. I thought the worst that night ... my boys broke my heart, they kept going outside and looking and calling... we heard lots of coyotes that night and were just bawling.

Morning came and I was sitting in my kitchen drinking coffee looking out the window and far end of the field in the tree line, I saw Sammie!!! She was just sitting there looking towards the house ... the kids and I headed out across the field while my husband took the pickup around the backside ... she ran again but back into the woods... I hear crunching and see my husband drove into the woods! Lol! He was determined not to lose her again ... they were able to follow her thru the brush, she started running back towards our property... my boys and I on foot ran back towards our house and we saw her by our yard visiting with our other dogs at the fence.... this time she didn't run away... back into the bathtub she went and then she ate and took a long ol nap on my daughter's bed. She is a very lucky little dog! Don't know why she ran from us but the only thing we can figure is that she had been abused at some point in her life.. she's part of our family. I have 5 dogs lol! 2 of which were ditch dogs that had been dumped out where we live. Here's some pics of her.. when we first found her and current.

Thank ya'll! The last thing we needed was another dog but she just captured all our hearts when we first brought her home.

Ten years ago a very handsome red heeler came to our house.  I couldn't chase him off, Lord knows I tried because I was afraid he'd kill our cats, and I couldn't catch him.  He just stayed out of reach very distrustful.  For an hour everyday I'd sit in a chair in front of the barn tempting him with treats and dog food.  He kept getting closer and closer, then finally one big piece of cheese and I had him.  Once I touched him and rubbed his neck and shoulders that was it.  He loved me.

Biggest pain in the butt ever, but the best watchdog ever.  He had a particular dislike for Jehovah's Witnesses.  Bit at and tried to heel everything that moved.  Now he's old and not so aggressive but you always wonder where these dogs came from and how they find us.
