If you have your horse's hocks laser fused, approximately how long is it before you can compete on them again????

had one of our 4 yrs hocks done ( trama injury)... they say complete healing is a year ( maybe 10 months ).  We are 3 months in and no difference.. think its going to take awhile .

My gelding is going on 8 months post surgery.  There has been a lot of improvement but i know he still has some pain.  That being said, he already rides like a new horse and he can collect himself in a lope now and he is a lot smoother.  That being said, he doesn't yet want to stop hard or make any hard fast turns.  I am just curious to know how long it typically takes until a horse is out competing again.  Guess i will ask the vet when i see him again.
