Location: LuluLand~along I64 Indiana | Not sure what has happened to the material price in the last 6 months vicki on solar. But, you might contact Ag Technology solutions in Indiana and run that quote past them to see if its good or not. From my experience in Indiana: your field should be built for a 7 year payout not 25. Your field should create enough energy to run your home, not generate excessive credits for the grid. If your quote does not do an inclusive study of your last 25 months electricity bills then they may be doing you a disservice. Find out from your electric company if they are crediting 1 kilowat to 1, or less. 4 years ago we put in a field to run our business. We have netted out zero for each of those years. We did recieve a credit energy grant to help with installation cost. it was a 10% credit on the entire bill. Our field will be netted out in 7.5 years and we had an electric bill of $1500/month prior to installation. Todays panels are about 90% effecient and have a 30 year life expectancy. Although we are being raped on the cost of panels because they are NOT made in america. |

Location: Ky | My neighbor put them in 3 years ago. 70' panels. I talked to the installers, they were out of Indiana, and they said it was the largest they had ever done at a residence. I don't what seh paid but she got an incentive from the state of Ky that offset it. Her electric bill ran in the $300/mo range. She set her payments to match that. I think she did 10 years but might have done 15? She didn't do the batteries. Her power goes into the grid and she builds credits. She didn't install them until fall. So it took about a year before she wasn't paying an electric bill at all. Just an $18/mo meter charge to Kenergy. She is completely satisfied. Went ahead and paid them off in full last year. They are an eyesore but she was able to put them on her property in aplace that you can't see them from her house. |
