Location: Kentucky | I'm looking for a foal creep feeder to put in the stall with baby and momma. Looking for the kinda that Mom can't get to, because she will push him aside for any food! I saw the one at State Line Tack, but it has bad reviews since it's deep and that foal cannot get their face all the way in the feeder without pushing the bars aside.
It would most likely be removed from the stall once he is weaned and sold, so need something not permanent. |

No run in. It's a 10x20 stall. |

Location: Peg-Leg Julia Grimm | I currently have 2 foals that need to have a creep feeder because mother is a hog. I have 12 x 24 stalls. I put a board across the corner so the foal can get under it and the mare shouldn't be able to. Then I hung a bucket in the corner for a little supplimental feed for them. It working so far. |

| Just do two low hanging buckets 6 feet apart in stalls or pen or pasture fence ...
add a pound of feed for the baby and put half of feed in each bucket ..
Won't take long for foal to figure out there is feed in the other bucket when mare
switches buckets ..
If feeding in a pen .. just use a low cattle type trough and baby will figure out to eat on the other side.
This once or twice/day feeding keeps baby from becoming obese and having leg problems..
good pasture is a rare thing to see with horses but is the most beneficial thing you
can do.
This baby probably eats one pound now that he is 3 months old once per day along
with good pasture.
Keeping nursing mares in condition by increasing their feed is also imperative ..

| I have only used a creep feeder on an outdoor basis. I detatch two panels of a round pen and attach a piece of wood tied on with hay strings with a little slack, but not enough for the mare to slip under. It's worked well. But other than a feeder with bars across it that are too close for the mare's muzzle (I have one, don't use it) I don't know how to creep feed in a stall. You can always go in and hold the bucket? Helps with bonding and everything! |

Location: Kentucky | I'm really looking for a way for baby to eat without mama interupting... can't really use panels or anything in stall. I think I may just go with the bucket with the bars from Stateline and try to figure out a way to not make it as deep. |
