Looking into Martin Stingray - never sat in one but it has everything I'm looking for. For those who have them - do you ride your true seat size or smaller or larger? Also tell me anything else about them - thank you in advance!

edited to add I contacted Martin as I've done the demo program before but the waitlist for a stingray demo is LONG.

LOVE MINE!!!!  I sized down a 1/2 inch.  I ride in a 13.5 usually; ordered a 13 and it fits excellent.  I ride much more balanced.  Feet are forward.  I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

Love Mine. I grew up competing in a Josey saddle so forward hung stirrups are what feels normal to me. I love the cut out swells for thigh room and the extra benefit of keeping my legs in front of me. I was looking to buy a Shiloh Contender as I have had one of those previously and liked it, but decided on a whim to go with the Stingray and I would definitely buy another. I would say confidently that you can go 1/2 size down.

I can't stand saddles that are trappy feeling, but this gives me a secure seat with the ability to move freely.

That's awesome! Sounds like just what I need. Normally I'm in a 14 inch but sounds like I need a 13.5. Thank you so much for the feedback.

Excellent! That definitely helps me decide to size down 0.5. Thank you! I actually have a Shiloh Finalist and like it but seems like I might like the stingray even more plus hoping the different tree shape will fit my horse better than the Shiloh does.

I recently switched to a martin stingray (Nov) and really like it. I rode in a treeless for 15 years. I worked with A Bit of Tack in MN and Sarah was so helpful. I had tried a number of treed saddles before this and non were as comfortable and secure feeling for me. She did have me go down a 1/2 size in my seat too. Check them out! They do ship and have a number available. https://www.abitoftackmn.com/

Awesome! I've actually been speaking with her

about one. Just wish I could sit in it!

I had a hip fusion when I was younger and then a few years ago a hip replacement. I'v rode a treeless ever since my first surgery due to my hips and knees. The treeless started making my horses back sore so i  started looking for a treed saddle. Absolutely fell in love with the stingray . I love it more than my treeless and I never thought I would be able to say that. When i'm running I never have to think about what I need to do with my self, my stingry puts my body in position every time.

I never changed sizes

Perfect! The less I have to worry about myself the more I can worry about guiding my horse. Thank you for your help!

I ended up ordering a 13" because it was the only 13-13.5 that I loved the looks of in all the dealers I looked at. Hopefully it fits! I can't wait to get it next week.

Another update! I got the 13" in yesterday and it is perfect!! I'm so glad I went with a smaller size. I think I'm going to love it.
